MARIEKE VAN HEESBEEN
Marieke van Heesbeen is a product designer specialized in ceramics. By experimenting with form, technique and function, she creates ceramic objects that invite playful interaction. Her work is located at the intersection between art and design, exploring the boundary between functionality and autonomous design.
Play is fundamental not only to what she makes, but also to how she works and who she is. She sees the world as an endlessly inspiring archive of interesting shapes, silhouettes and details; from elegantly trimmed boxwood to simplistic trays from thrift stores. By giving forms (different) functions, deforming them and/or combining them with other forms, she gives shape to something new.
Marieke invites you into her playful world. A world of shapes, translated into colorful architectural objects.
